GATE ATTENDANT — GATE TERMINAL MODE

Purpose

Gate Terminal is a simplified, full-screen layout for security staff at the school entrance. It removes profile, language, and student portal clutter so attendants can scan cards quickly.

Who uses it

Users with Gate Attendant role or gate_mode capability from the server. After login they never see the standard dashboard.

Step-by-step — Morning student arrival

• Mr. Koffi opens app → Gate Terminal appears automatically
• Taps Gate Attendance
• Screen shows: *"Ready. Tap an NFC/RFID card to the back of your phone."*
• Student Marie Kouassi taps card A1B2C3D4 on phone
• Success sound plays; modal shows:

- Success!

- Student: Marie Kouassi

- Class: Grade 5 Section A

- Time In: 07:42

- Status: Present

• Taps Continue Scanning for next student

Step-by-step — Manual ID entry (card not working)

• On NFC screen, scroll to Or enter ID manually
• Type admission number: GVIS-2025-0142
• Tap Submit Manual ID
• Same result modal as NFC scan

Example story — Busy Friday dismissal

14:30 — Queue at gate. Mr. Koffi alternates between Kids Pickup (NFC taps) and Live Pickups (teacher approvals). By 15:00, Today's Scans shows 412 time-outs recorded. One parent forgot QR; teacher uses Manual OTP from the staff dashboard (see Part 6).

Common questions

Q: Can gate attendants change language?

A: Gate Terminal does not show the language button. Set language before login on the login screen, or ask IT to add standard dashboard access if needed.

Q: NFC says "not supported or disabled".

A: Enable NFC in Android Settings → Connected devices → NFC.
